Uh oh, there’s going to be a lot more of this isn’t there….


Horses that people can’t get hay for / afford to keep ending up with charities… that can’t get hay / afford to keep them….
 
Sadly I think it will lead to more abandonments of animals with health needs/that aren't deemed 'useful' instead of people euthanising things they can no longer afford to keep. I don't think the horse crisis has gone away in Britain either, there's still far too much breeding going on and fundamentally far more horses than homes that can meet their needs, especially with the increase in building and high cost of land.

Yes I agree on breeding - too many horses, which are essentially pets (competitive pets included) , eating resources we either can’t grow due to climate or need the space for growing food on. I’m not just picking on horses btw, most of our agricultural land - and the water, oil, human resources attached - is devoted to creating feed for livestock. It’s simply not sustainable. (And don’t get me started on the welfare issues).
