I fit both but another thing to keep in mind is the material of the headband I found out that I was allergic to my Showjumper XP when I had only worn it a handful of times so I only ever get Champion hats now .
A Champion hat saved my life when I fell and was kicked in the head wearing it, hat smashed to pieces but my skull stayed intact, I always buy Champion hats now. I'm sure there are other hats that would have done the same but this is the only time I've ever had to 'test' my riding hat and don't fancy doing it again
I have had a Charles Owen Showjumper XP for showing and its a beautiful hat very comfy and a Charles Owen J3 Jockey Skull that I bought when my JTE Classic didnt have the correct safety for Pony Club! Both are wonderful although I found the J3 quite heavy.
I have a Champion Evolution now that is sooooooo light! Its really comfy although they are generous sizes!
Im normally a 56cm and in Champion im a 55cm
Ditto Kirsty+Java about the generous sizes they differ between different Champion hats as well in that the Ventair/Evolution/Grand Prix ones are slightly bigger than the other ones .
Champion and Charles Owen have different shapes so it is best to try them on first so you know which one you are

I agree with the above, I had always had Champion jockey skulls, when my last one was due for changing I bought a smart Charles Owen hat (J3 I think), which, despite being fitted professionally, dug into the back of my headl really painfully. Chyarles Owen were really helpful and sent out a fitter but despite extra padding it was always painfully uncomfortable. After about a month I gave up and reverted to a Champion again, with no problems. From my own experience, may I suggest you try them both and keep them on for a fair while (mine was fine for about 15 mins) before you make a final decision.
depends on whether you have a round head or an oval head! you need to try them on and get the best fit. i really dont think the cost of a good well fitted hat should be a top priority! you only ever get one head and its up to you to protect it. not save a few pounds..
As above- I have a round head so the oval Charles Owen hats don't fit me, although I'd love an AYR8 So thanks to my silly round head I had to get a Champion- which is brilliant by the way
