Hey all,

We have been recommended to get in touch with charlie wilson to help us with some issues (and generally improve) twig. ie trailer loading and her occasional (but very expressive!) rearing when put under a little pressure.

We have no experience of natural horsemanship whatsoever although looking at his website I'm glad to see he comes from an eventing background so we will both be singing from the same hymn sheet.

We have a two hour initial assessment with him friday morning so it shall be interesting to see what happens!

I've only heard good things about him. He's one of those who have managed to combine a more conventional background with natural horsemanship ideas and make it work. I think you'll like him.

Thats good to hear!

At first I was a little skeptical, as I mentioned above I have NO experience with natural horsemanship whatsoever and did wonder if it would really apply to what we want to do in the future (young horse aiming at eventing career) but looking at his website he has very sucessfully competed and thats put my mind at ease a little - I think I need to stop being so narrow minded!

The lesson is friday morning so I will certainly keep you updated!

He comes recommended from a friend of ours who lets us use her arena near huby, she has ridden to psg level and her youngsters are all sent to him for breaking.

Sounds very narrow minded of me but I've always thought the whole 'natural horsemanship/ horse whispering' as a load of bull but then again I know nothing about it so who am I to have an opinion!

I think its going to be a very interesting morning

aha! I do know of this chap (didn't recoginse the name but recognise the place - he has been recommended to me too. I'm a bit like you in that I've never done the NH thing but if it works!

Georgiegirl - I haven't dealt with him on that side of things but he bred my mare and I have spoken to Charles & his wife many times on the phone, and we write over the past 8 years. They are lovely people but sorry can't help you on the horsemanship side of things.

There are people out there who are making a good job of knitting NH to the other stuff. I have lessons with a lady called Karen French in Kent, she is a fantastic classical rider and very knowledgeable about dressage, but she took everything apart and put it back together with some NH training and found it all very useful.
