hello :) We're just up the road from Charnwood milling and i have heard their micronized linseed is the very similar to a simple system product. Apologies for being vague, but i feed lucie nuts and am wondering if this is a cheaper alternative? Does anyone feed it?

Charnwood linseed is same as SS instant linseed - but cheaper
SS also does Total eclipse = Charnwood sell Linseed, brewers yeast and seaweed separately but still works out cheaper

Lucie nuts are alfalfa i think - Dodson and horrell do Alfalfa pellets - they are about £9 a bag from most feed stores.

I went onto Charnwoods brewers yeast and linseed several years ago as it was so much cheaper than SS and I use a lot of it.

I know that D&H do Just Grass which is similar to SS's version but not the lucie nuts.

I did try Dengie's new unmolassed alfa, but am going back to Green Gold as it made Farra hot up though Stinky was ok on it.

I wanted to feed Simple Systems a few years ago but it was just such a hassle getting hold of it and then when I moved onto a yard and shared an order with another livery, I was surprised at how much it was all costing. Now I feed Dengie alfalfa pellets soaked, Equibeet and Charnwood Milling's micronised linseed and BOSS along with Top Spec feed balancer and magnesium. I don't think I can get much cheaper than this and both my horses are looking fabulous on it.

Charnwood are currently the only manufacturer of micronised linseed in the UK (certainly that I have been able to track down). Simple Systems buys their product in (probably from Charnwood).

Lucie bix are alfalfa.

Simple Systems are good at marketing, but you can buy the ingredients of everything they sell more cheaply elsewhere.
