I have just seen this someone posted on facebook
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NZ4DdFDkzRI

I thought chase me charlie was meant to be a light hearted, pony club game, but this video shows adults hammering poor horses over jumps that they clearly do not want to jump, gobbing them in the mouth with sever bits and jabbing them with spurs.

im not normally one to judge but what goes through someones head when their horse has refused or crashed through a massive jump numerous times, yet they still come round again and again trying to clear it.?

Chesnut you can't se rider kicking , it is like stops prior to jump which is wrong, leg all the way.

Also chase me charlie is you have one go only at each height
Refuse, run out fall off , knock down. You out period

Oh dear, not sure what they are trying to prove. They should have stopped at 3ft3, it was going quite sweetly until then.

The guy riding the grey about half way through, jumping 1m55...I can't stop watching it...what on earth is he doing with his hips?! It's so bad but I can't stop replaying it 😂 poor horse, the rider goes to all that effort with his seat and then slams on the brakes with his hands!

That little dark chestnut would have been happier without its 'rider' doing whatever it was she was doing up there! :( What a forgiving pony!

Awful, watching the grey who looked young and was going so well and has a lovely jump over faced like that .
Why would you over face your horse to a standstill just nuts .

How to ruin good horses and ponies.

Really don't see what any of them were trying to achieve. They all looked fairly novice as well? Really irresponsible from everyone. You'd have thought someone on the sidelines would have said to maybe call it a day.

Have you guys read the comments? I'm pretty sure this isn't just some random game of chase me charlie... It seems some of these people compete at a decent height on those horses. (For the record, not condoning it...)

Not the worse riding I've ever seen, not the best either. I probably didn't look much better when I did chase me charlie at the yard as a teenager, I remember jumping my mare over a 5 foot fence with my eyes closed. That said what I do think is bad is the not knowing when to call it a day, if my mare had refused and bearing in mind she was a 14.3 cob so quite within the realms of possibility, I would not have attempted again. I would have asked them to drop it and jump some thing nice and small and left it there.
I'm afraid its the girl on the bay that bothered me the most, I felt very uncomfortable watching her over a fence and felt very sorry for the horse. We can all get caught out and left behind but I'm not sure that was the case here.
None of those riders should have attempted fences that big but then again I think most people have had their blood up to have a go, I know I have although I also know how to be sensible and call it a day and be realistic about my ability.

What an earth was the guy doing on the grey once the jump went up in height? Did he think he could thrust it over the fence?

Felt a bit bad for the bay too, really hanging onto the mouth over those jumps.. no attempt at a fold.

These games are supposed to be fun, I though a refusal or knock meant you were out? It's a shame people don't know when to stop pushing.

I don't think it was terrible, just novicey people thinking that they can jump a lot bigger than they are capable of & not doing it very effectively!!

I wouldnt say the were riding curelly they just couldn't really ride very well full stop. If you are wanting to jump 140 plus even in a single fence you either need to be a bloody brave kid who kicks the hell on with a bloody brave & trustworthy pony! Or actually an effective rider who can present a horse to a fence correctly.
Most of them were sat hoping, not 1 rode after about 3 strides away :/

I dont think it was too bad, perhaps the woman on the bay was the most uncomfortable to watch. I just think they were over enthusiastic in their abilities. Also I'd be mortified to have a nose on h&h and see the vid and my riding being ripped to bits.

The woman on the bay was weird. Ignoring the complete lack of jump position, it was her hands I found odd. Very harsh for one thing. She was hanging on anyway but then partway through the jump she would pull her hands upwards again, for no apparent reason.

Very kind horses in my opinion :)

The guy on the grey is supposedly a professional showjumper...

As for tearing these people apart, they posted the thing publicly on youtube and it hasn't exactly attracted praise there either.

I can't work out why you'd have a 3 ring Gag.... On the snaffle ring imo makes things look alot worse on the instant assumption that it's a harsh bit.
