Cheap DIY side reins/lunging aid??

I have loads of the elasticated leg straps from rugs lying around (you know the sort inch wide elastic, loop on one end and a trigger clip on the other end).

I’m also in need of a pair of side reins…

Thirdly I have very little in the way of spare funds at the moment.

Can you see where this idea is heading?

I only use them very loosely on my boy as a slight reminder to bring his head down so they’d be fairly loose, he’s lunged in normal side reins and an elastic bungee perfectly before.

Do anyone else have any ideas for a cheap training aid? (but NOT the pessoa, I don’t like the action of them at all!)

I use an idea I saw on here, using draw reins over the withers, under the front legs and clipped to the bit (while lunging).

Erm, I haven’t got a tail bandage or draw reins either *shame*
(don’t laugh but as of last week we don’t even have a saddle!!!!)

I need to do a bit of shopping don’t I?

I have just put my draw reins, minus the girth loops (which you don't need for my idea), up on ebay *wink nudge*.
