I wonder what you would recommend as cheap fly rugs for my girls?
They have the Rambo ones which fit well, but they do get a bit...well...stinky :D so need a wash and I need spares.
I need ones which are quite deep, particularly through the neck, as my Shire x Tb girl's neck is usually too deep for standard combos.
Thanks in advance!
S :D

PS If anyone remembers my colicky girl - she's doing well so far. :D

my amigo is in its 3rd season but I suspect would be too tight for the cob ;) :p :D as it is only just ok on frank. When it gives up he will be getting a v-neck rambo but cant afford one until it dies.

good news of the colicky girl :D :D :D

I've got an Amigo and it's great. Had a Rambo with the V neck and sold it. Wasn't nearly as good as the other Horseware V necks I've got. Horseware come up small though, so if you get one, buy one 1 or even 2 sizes larger than normal.

equestrian clearance has weatherbeeta ones at a good price just now. derby house's own one doesn't look too bad at just over 20 quid. They have the amigo bug buster on offer too which I have and it's really good.

Amigos are a possibility then, although I don't know of any 'c*b', Ester? :D
Weatherbeeta ones don't stand a chance of meeting round Shire x Tb's fat neck, unless I intend to throttle her (and sometimes, I am tempted ;) )

If Masta are any good to you Robinsons are selling them in their sale starting this Monday (6am on line & 9am on phone) at £22 & that includes a neck cover as well :)

I have a tb x shire x ID and the amigo wouldnt go near him arround the chest. His pics on the ID x Shire thread for comparison. I have a Premier Equine fly rug, I did have to lengthern the velcro fasteners on the neck part but it was an easy job and Ive had it 4 years now. Its funny as none of the other premier equine rugs fit him arround the chest???

I have a warmblood x shire and I bought an Amigo the next size up and it fits fine. I worried about the neck before I bought it.

I would highly recommend the derby house fly rug. Mine is currently going into its 5th season on a very distructive cob who hasn't managed to break it yet! Its also good as it has ear holes so you don't have the issue of the neck cover slipping down like so many do.

I found the neck to be quite tight - it wouldnt fit round my TBs. and the chest quite small as well. They are normally between a 6'0" and a 6'3" and really I needed a 6'6".

I have the Mark Todd ultra combos - they were about £50 each so not cheap but have lasted a lot of washing. The neck is more generous on these than the Derby House ones.

The masta ones have quite large necks but the material is just so flimsy on the ones that I had (white with navy blue binding).

Have heard the amigo ones are quite good but I find the necks on amigos so narrow??
