Last night (Tuesday), you could have bagged yourself a bargain at Tattersalls Sale. Tendulkar, a 10yo stallion was sold in the sales ring for the huge sum of...800 guineas. It's not as if he has proved totally useless at stud either as he sired the Brigadier Gerard (Gr.3) and Lincoln winner Smokey Oakey amongst his winners. Even if you charged £100 a mare, you would soon have made your money!

Yes saw that sadly wasnt there yesterday and i expect every one i pick tomorrow that might suit me for a stallion will fetch mega bucks.

We saw him go through the ring and was quite surprised about the price for him. Will have to find why he was that cheap. Some real bargains yesterday with pregnant mares with foals at foot. Friend bought a pregnant mare which didn't make reserve outside the ring. Got herself a real bargain.

Unable to get up there today (Weds) but managed to watch some of the live action via PC.

You should have told us if you're looking for another TB stallion. The old owners of "Advise" when they heard we'd lost him, have offered us another boy to take on. We've turned them down so I don't know if he is still available or not, but excellent pedigree and won lots.

Some of the boys today were making more than was thought by the yards themselves. We know one of the potential stallions well, and that made 7 times more than the trainer thought it would make. Thankfully the money does seem to have picked up a bit for the TBs at this sale. We pray it continues for the foals and yearlings.

Saddly I was there Tuesday looking for a mare or two and was unlucky as the ones we liked made good money. We are looking for a TB mare around 15.3hh idealy around 4ish to breed from.

Not that this would have influenced his price, but he is a bastard to handle.

If you are looking for stallion prospects what are you looking for? Race record or something young to bring along for some kind of approval. So many others had much better pedigrees for sporthorse breeding than Tendulkar.

To be perfectly honest i wouldnt take on a stallion that someone else had handled anyway but i was surprised at his price.
We are looking for another one as i need an outcross for a couple of mares that we have here and i wont send them away and also wont put them to anything other than TB .
One mare also isnt suitable to be AI'd so getting a new boy is the only option.
As far as a stallion goes for me his conformation and temperament have got to be spot on .
Race record would be nice but i would take a better conformed horse with less of a race record and produce him under saddle if needed.
Also needs to be Sadlers Wells and Fairy King free which is a shame as all the best looking ones seem to be by Galileo.
Doesnt need to be very big as would be looking for something to go down the NPS ,SPSS and pony side of the Oldenburg stud books but does need to have good bone as i dont do spindley horses.
Hoping time allows me to go and have a look today as lots of colts going through although i have just turned one down from somewhere else.

The free of SW and ND is possible, but try not to be to picky if they are far back.

You will get some nice German and French horses, and still the odd one locally, but you have to look hard.

Good luck because we know this lucky colt or stallion will have an amazing home when you find the right one!

Thanks for that well no time today but i do have plenty of people on the lookout so hopefully we will find something.
Funnily enough nearly every horse i look at and like goes back to Sadlers wells so as long as it is far enough back i certainly would take it on as they generally do have good temperaments.
Im sure something will turn up.

Hi, haven't been on here for ages but was alerted to this post by the second person of the stud that is now looking after him. She was offended by the comment on him being 'a b*stard to handle'. I would like Terrib to explain why they think this as the experience his new carers have had with him are the complete opposite and as this is a public forum and comes up in general searches on the internet it is not a nice thing to say without more of a qualifying comment. I am a bit fed up of people slating horses with no decent reason - ie Mine on here a few months ago. I had heard about the fertility problems but he has thrown some decent horses and so, knowing where he is going if they can get him to be more fertile then he will only improve the stock that he will be covering.
