Following on from earlier related posts, I was just wondering if anyone had any suggestions for alternative cheaper suppliments for horses.

For example, I feed products from the NAF range, namely apple cider vinegar and linseed oil. Could I get these from a supermarket or elsewhere cheaper?

How about other suppliments? And are they the same strength as ones that are sold for horses?

I feed just herbs on their own, I buy them wholesale. Currently I feed camomile as a calmer, and fenugreek for digestion. Both work really well

ETA also have fed sunflower oil from tesco!

I use Epsom salts 96p a kilo (yes, I know it is out of fashion) instead of expensive laminitis supplements £22 a kilo and they have worked so much better.

Aplle cider vinegar is supposed to be good for their joints.

I might try to get mine from Tesco then. I pay about £12.50 for 5 litres of NAF cider vinegar at the moment, so that would probably be a lot cheaper.

Do they do linseed oil at the supermarket?

why dont you do your own ??
You dont need a boiling mess.
Pop your linseed in and pour boiling water on and pop the lid on and let it steam itself over night and hey presto.
My horses arent dead yet

Equus health do unfiltered cider vinegar - the best I've ever used - for under £10 per 5L. In fact all their products are vg and sensibly priced. I'm not an agent btw just an Equus health fan!
