Hi there,
I was wondering whether anyone could help. My 15hh sports horse has been out for the past year with check ligament injury, I had him scanned again on Monday and have been told that he's finally ready to go back into work - but I'm not all that sure how to go about it. Do I just start a normal fitness routine as if nothing is different, or because of his injury should I make changes to how long or how hard I should work him for? The vet wants to scan again in another 12 weeks, how far along should we be by then? Still in trot work, light canter work? I really don't want to take this too fast and end up injuring him again!! Any help would really be appreciated!! Thanks!

My horse did his curb ligament few years agao.Vet s recommendation was 2 weeks walking building up for 10 mins day to 1 to 2 hours couple of times a week.By week 3 add few mins of trot very gradually increasing to 20 mins by week 6 add few mins canter and build up gradually again. All of the work was hacking until fitness had increased enough to use school.Good luck

Hi, I would check with your vet and let him advise you. My little anglo arab did his check ligament a few years ago and I bought him back into work very slowly over several months. Have to say we didn't jump again, but his was a serious tear. Good luck with your horse!
