My horse ruptured her check ligament badly (80% tear) and was surprisingly only very slightly lame, I only noticed it when I went to ride her, she looked sound being led in walk but was short whe trotted up. You are looking for a swelling on the inside of the cannon bone, a couple of inches below the knee and fairly central, ie, between the cannon bone and the tendon. It can be easily mis-diagnosed as a minor rupture of the superficial digital flexor tendon. My horses injury was confirmed with an ultra sound scan. If you would like to know more about it then message me. Its not as bad as you might first assume.
