Horse did her near fore check ligament at the beginning of April. She was scanned and found to have a 20% tear/hole in the ligament which was classed as a sprain. We were told to turn out for 2.5 months and then rescan which we've done and ligament back to normal.

We've got 8 weeks walking then vet check again before trotting.

I just wondered how many people have had horses with such an injury which mended and then went on at a later stage and reinjured.

Horse is 15. She will (fingers crossed) be hunting 3 days a fortnight come November. She did the injury on very hard ground so obviously I will be wanting to avoid fast work on hard ground. I am hoping that if we do the ground work she should be ok but interested to know what experiences people have had, good and bad.

Thanks.

One of mine did hers. I don't know what it was %-wise, but my vet said she'd done "a good job" & it was significant. We had to boxrest her for (i think) 4 months. I sent her to a rehab yard to use their cold water hydrotherapy spa. She was there for 4 weeks, then re-scanned. The vet was amazed at now well & how fast the lesion had started repairing. She was never lame with the injury, and it all healed great. Never had any problems since.
My vet said that of all the tendons & ligaments to damage, the check is the best one to do :)
Good luck with yours.
