check ligament???????

my horse has quite badly damages his check ligament the vet does not seemed worried i have a 6 week programme cold hose daily 2 weeks full box-rest which i have done 2 weeks hand walking 2 weeks turnout in small field then he coming back to scan has anyone else had this injury how did your horse heal did you get back to normal did you do any thing in particular to help healing i just worried as he only 4 (he done it in field )

Hi, was your horse lame? my mare recently done this, she is much older though, 22! i cannot keep her in so have been turning her out otherwise she just stresses, she done it about 6 weeks ago, her leg is still thick and has good and bad days where she is a bit short. Vet said this will take about 3 months (but that was with 2 weeks box rest etc) i really dont know what to expect with this but due to her age i havnt 'followed' a strict rehabillitation routine! I was advised to stable bandage/hose etc also can try the msm supplement?
