Hiya, my girl came in lame on Friday with a fat and hot front leg, vet was called (always out of hours!) and after a lot of palpating she suspected she had hurt her check ligament.

She is currently on box rest with a big support bandage on it. Which I changed today & most of the swelling has gone! Yay! Being scanned on Thursday!

Wondering if anyone had experience with this injury!

Thanks

6 months box rest with heel wedge, PRP injection into hole, may have had shockwave but can't remember. Now 100% but made the decision not to jump again as he had previously done a suspensory. Took 3 weeks after he pulled himself up mid xc round to diagnose as he was sound, only had a tiny bit of heat, small lump but scanned to show a decent hole.

Ruptured check ligament last April, 3 months box/yard rest, should have been longer but horse too 'nutty'!! Turned out for just under 8 months and we are now on week 5 of walking exercise. Leg is a little thick but completely sound and after 8 weeks we start trotting and hopefully get back to eventing!! Scans look good so far. Good luck with your horse

Meant to add horse did his in hand walking under saddle as too dangerous to handle and quite happily say now that I've never sat on a horse who could turn himself inside out and back to front nor rear so high without going over. It didn't seem to set him back though.

Thanks guys. I changed her bandage today (very very fat when she did it) and it looked back to normal so that's good, although who new changing a bandage to be so scarey! she's having her scan on Thursday. Vet was saying its better than a tendon to injure! Didn't think I would be back in board anytime soon. Hopeing to have her out in the summer & live out!
Really nervous about her scan though!

Update if anyone's interested, she was scanned & everything was completely normal!
No idea what she did, bruised her tendon we think! So slow road to recovery & then she can go back out in the field yay!
