Dogg has been promoted from the loose box to his own palace, he loves it! Swanky huh?

Hehe :D Cool innit. Yep, weight is slowly improving! And energy levels! He is getting a bit frisky on walks these days and is more of a handful, but its so nice to see him feeling better.

He does have a terribly itchy belly & chest though, he has scratched all the fur off, and it gets raw and sore, I've been putting sudocrem on every day, but is there anything more effective we could try?
 
sulphur is ment to be brill for itchy dogs,you can dust them with it (flowers of sulphur) or add a teaspoon in theyre food .(google uses for flowers of sulphur):D
 
What food is he on? My dog does exactly the same, I suspect they may have some dogs in common in their pedigrees, by the looks of him!

You need to take him to the vet to check it out, my fella is allergic to tree pollen and high levels of protein, it is managed with 4x piriton a day, Malaseb shampoo every once in a while and a low protein food but every dog is different so do ask the vet.
I would get on top of it quickly as it can be very uncomfortable for them, I had to manage B with no hair at all from his throat, down around his belly, under thighs, elbows, in the very deep snow and it was a nightmare x

Thanks, yes he did gets some antihistamines from the vet and they did help, we've run out now though, would he have to stay on them permanently? I can't remember the brand name now, but its lamb and rice biscuit things, a natural food...
 
B is pretty much on Piriton for life now, you notice a real difference after a couple of days off it but we do live in the middle of an evergreen forest so trees all year round :(
I use a site called Petmeds which sells pots of 500 for about £11 which is really good. Again, double check with your vet.
Re the food, check the name of it and check the protein content. The protein in dry dog food isn't always 'good' protein in terms of the source and that can cause the itching in sensitive dogs.
A fish-based food is probably a better option if high protein is the trigger. Fishy foods also keep weight on better :)
Arden Grange is a good food for GSDs.
 
That is one very cool doghouse!! Think even OH (who according to his whinging is frequently in it) wouldn't mind spending time in that doghouse lol

Lovely looking dog as well,who looks suitably pleased with his abode!!
 
Beautiful kennel! I love it.

Re the itching, it could be the food, lots of dogs are allergic to lamb, aswell as pollen etc as said above. Go back to vet and see if they'll do bloods for allergies, it can be expensive to test, but cheaper than trying to do processes of illumination! Good luck
