Do you 'check' strange horses when you drive past?
And have you had anyone helping your horses out when you've not been there?
Just curious.

I look at horses as I drive past, just through interest I suppose. As for anyone 'helping my horses out when I'm not there'....I sincerely hope not! I look after my horse & occasionally I have someone else sort him out, as for strangers....certainly not.

I always look at horses when I go past - if I saw one that was in trouble ie. trapped in a fence or something of course I would stop and help.

One of my horses got stuck upside down in a ditch once in the filed and some people saw it - they knew where my dad worked so they went and fetched him which was really nice of them. We had to have 2 fire engines out and about 20 guys from the factory next door ame out to help fish him out. Luckily he wasn't seriously hurt. I think it's nice when people help you out, but sometimes they can be misguided!

If I saw a horse in obvious distress, ie, trapped in something, then yes, I would go and see what could be done.

In the UK where horses are often kept in fields away from houses I do wish that a contact number for just these circumstances would be left where it is visible, painted onto a gate or post. I would far rather phone someone and say "Look, there is a horse that might be in trouble in your field" rather than wade in there gung-ho and perhaps make matters worse.

Have stopped and removed a pony from where it was stuck in the livestock fencing, have also stopped and sorted a rug out on someones horse as it was hoping round on three legs as it had the fourth one stuck in its leg strap.

My dad thought a gypsy cob had a bucket stuck on its head, we stopped on the edge of a dualk carriage way, her made his way over a large field to rescue it, but it was the horses markings!!!!!!!!!!!!

No I don't check other people's horses I'm afraid. I barely look at other people's horses around my area - too much neglect and ignorance for my liking, so I'm afraid nowadays I turn a blind eye.

No, no-one has ever "helped out" with my horses as my horses are not viewable to anyone in the outside world. We have a very private location and you would have to come right onto our farm and over a hill to be able to even see our house, let alone our horses.
