If you move from full livery to DIY, what would you expect the "setup costs" to be, for all the yard items you would need to buy?

rubber matting (12 x 12 stable)
wheelbarrow
shavings fork
broom
shovel
buckets
2 x metal feed storage bins (to take full size bags)
hangers/storage solution for tack
haynets

Did I miss anything? :-)

If you buy all new I wouldn't expect much change from £400 - £500

It really depoends if what you buy is going to have to last a long time and you have the money to buy really good quality, or whether you want to buy cheap and replace often. A wheelbarrow can range from £45 - £230

We looked at the metal storage bins made specially for feed and they were about £200 for a two bag container - we ended up with plastic dustbins at £15 each with another larger one for soaking hay.

Ebay is always a good option or your local tack shop for people selling off stuff

I do DIY livery here at my farm, and some of these things I would supply as a matter of course as I have it here for my own horse; i.e. brushes, forks, wheelbarrows, etc. Rubber matting is in one stable only.

The things I wouldn't supply would be stuff like feed storage bins, headcollars (obviously); also I would expect them to bring their own electric fencing (tho' in the past they've used mine, plus energiser - but if they do then I expect them to replace the battery unless I've used it for myself - i.e. grace and favour sort of thing).

My current liveries used the (plastic) wheelbarrow to lug hay and feed around in and broke it, but its repaired OK; however if anyone does break anything here I'd expect them to replace it.
