I know this is cheeky, but as the saying goes, if you don't ask, you don't get. Does anybody in the Maidstone area own a big lorry (bigger than 3.5 tonne) and is planning on going to some sponsored rides this year? Or do you know anybody who fits this criteria?
I want to take Fella, but don't have any transport. He is too big to get in some 3.5 tonne lorries, so don't want to risk hiring one and finding he doesn't fit, and getting a transporter to take us both to a from a ride in a big lorry would be very, very, very expensive!
I would, of course, pay some petrol money towards costs. If you, or anyone you know might be able to help it really would make my year. Thankies, and fingers crossed!

I'm Linton/Boughton Monchelsea which is just south of Maidstone. Will do, ditto to you to please!

If I don't, I would still like to try and get to a ride, so mebs we could hire a transporter to use together and share the costs?

Oohh i dunno where that is lol .. not sure if its close or not .. but yeah that sounds good

just dont know if Ted would be fit enough for a sponsored ride ... hes rather podgy atm

tonitot - annoyingly, im the other side of maidstone, but if we don't find anyone else I still reckon it would be a lot cheaper than hiring one each! We could be little and large, 12.2 and 18.1!
thinktwiice - that would be brill! Let me know if you do go to any that require going past Maidstone. Thanks.

BEWARE!! If you pay someone private/ friend who transports your horse, you can invalidate insurance. Also, though you think it will never happen, how can you sue if the driver makes a mistake and your horse gets injured or killed?
I would strongly recommend that you use insured and authorised transporters.

If I do that, I probably can't afford to go out anywhere! It cost me £120 just to get him moved under 10 miles to a new livery yard, so you can add on a lot more for taking too and from a spon ride. They are just too expensive.
Maybe I could pay back in other ways, like tack cleaning. Either that, or get them to stop at a petrol station on the way back and I pay for fuel. That way I'm not giving them any money.

What is it with us Kent folks and lacking transport? I'm in the same situation, but in Meopham (near Gravesend). Would love to have a go at some sponsored rides and have been addicted to the Endurance GB website reading about all the fun. Fortunately my girl is only 15hh so can go in a trailer, but I don't have a towing vehicle either! Argh!
