Bit of a random post really but today I visited my boys who live out when passing (ish) the field between appoinents at work, I had no apples / mints on me so shared my lunch with them instead lol!

Ollie LOVED blueberry, black grapes, melon and kiwi

Alfie loves all the above plus all that Ollie didn't like - banana and his fave -Strawberry...

lucky me got the only thing they turned there noses at : pinapple.

Do any of your horses enjoy the odd "human" snack?

pleassseee dont bore me with "you shoudlnt feed that" I am well aware of what a balanced diet is for my lads and this was just a treat - which they thoroughly enjoyed.

anyway would be intrested to see what your money eaters like to have :)

xx

my late mare had a wide taste

the son not such a huge choice

aww :) mine wouldnt try the pinapple but i wont complain its my fave.... my sisters the same as uour son with fruit n veg then....- sunday lunch consists of yorkies n roasties with gravy lol.

My old retired mare eats everything, biscuits, jelly sweets, oat so simple bars, califlower, bananas, oranges and bread!
My current mare will eat all of that apart from the bananas.
Her stable mate, an Arab, is fussy but will eat bananas whole, skin and everything! :)
My TB is a fan of 7up and shares a can if we pass a shop while riding. She didnt like the little bit of fudge my dad offered her last week when we rode past my house, she spat it back out at him! :)

my mare loves choc biscuits so I then gave her a whole easter egg once!

my ex had these crisps from sainsburys that were some sort of garlicy thing and she went made for them!

She stole my crusty roll that had cheese and onion crisps in once!

but she wont eat mini cheddars, she will spit them out no matter how many times you try!

She loves all fruit, including bananas! she will eat the odd blackberry but they make her laugh!

Oh this did make me laugh, and took me back to my childhood when we used to have picnics at our field.

My mum used to make extra jam sandwiches for our old Welsh sec A! and he used to like a cup of tea, but it had to be milky and sweet! He also used to refuse to walk past the ice cream man who parked on the village whe out on a hack until we stopped and bought him a miny milk ice lolly!! He used to take the whole thing in his mouth - stick an all - suck noisily and then spit out a clean, un chewed stick!!!

Thanks for reminding me of the helcyon days of my youth .... :D

One of ours loves mr kiplings Viennese whirls !
How my groom found this out I don't know but he got one every morning he misses this now she's left.

Shy likes a lick or two of diet coke :o

But his absolute favourite (and a no no ) has to be polos. I came down to the yard last week, and instead of munching on his hay, he had his "I am very alert" face on over the stable door. A lovely old friend of the YO was helping out....Shy had very fragrant peppermint breath......and they were both so surprised when i sussed it :D

A pony i had years ago, loved coffee at a show (he had his own private cup to drink it from) and icecream ..,
My current mare likes the odd biscuit, likes to suck the end of the hose whens its on as well

I guess I'm a bit of a meanie as I only give high fibre nuts which they have in their feeds anyway, but they will eat anything and love them so never mind!

I did give them one of those go ahead crispy slices the other day (my fave), they loved it and pulled comical flehmen faces at the apple, raisin and cinnamon flavour!

I do give carrots occasionally and apples when my parents bombard me with them from the trees.

Mine don't really take treats :( The ex racehorse will take the odd apple or carrot (but not mints) but I've never found anything to temp the Irish one! Considering when I asked them what his name was when I bought him in Caven and they said "the grey one" I don't think he's ever been given treats, he just doesn't seem to know how to take them!

I used to give about 4 carrots after riding, but I am experimenting with not giving them after reading on here how they can 'hot up' your horse. Not convinced he is any different :D so he'll probably be back on them next week. Sometimes ONE Polo.

He loves blackberries straight from the bush! We do stop at a certain spot when out at the right time of year - he gets the lower ones and I get the ones on the higher branches! He looks like he has lipstick on afterwards :D

One of mine would sell his sole for a bit of maccy d's (knows the bag and gets excited) coke but only likes fat coke, and donuts! He also drink tea and coffee...he is terrible he once ate a baby bird and a grooming block (the gross ones that stink off egg) so there really is no hope.

Yes it's all horrendously bad for him but he doesn't get fed anything like that often, but looks so happy when he manages to get or steal a treat!

The other only eats carrots and apples ...swedes are poison apparently!

Gelding is quite fussy so just the normal for him - apples, carrots, the odd strong mint.

Mare on the other hand will eat anything, and loves tangerines! A lady at the yard once brought up so freshly made banoffe pie....needless to say mare had a good few spoonfulls! :)

I remember once years ago at a show, there was a Dinky Donuts van, my little shetland pony had a tray to himself, with sauce :p

Besides apple and carrot Boyo is rather likes banana and has mugged me for Beef flavour McCoys {ekkk}

On of the RS horses will eat almost anything - but god forbid if you have a bacon cob - he will grab it off you and spit out the cob :-O

Rio likes swede a lot but he will generally eat anything stuck infront of him and Taz will east most things but loves caramel digestives and mini cheddars... also cheese balls and he stole a bacon sandwich at a show too... complete weirdo

aww im glad other people let the horses experiment too :D - my old mare once stole some turkey sanswiches...greedy horse trying out her meat eating skills. not thati wud encourage that of course xx

Rosie loved citrus fruit, bananas most fruit and veg with swedes being particularly favoured.

Nugz will eat everything. Whether it is swallowed is another matter. He has a habit of taking whatever you offer him, sort of looks at you with an expression of a proud parent sampling their offsprings 'delightful' cooking, then when your not looking, spits it out. Or with bananas he will take, mush it up, store it then when you feed him something like a carrot find the carrot gets taken and a mashed banana is delicately placed in your hand in the carrots place :D
In summer he has cider lollies :D

Mine loves apples, carrots, Swede and polos. He's also partial to s biscuit or two especially hobnobs and choc digestives. He loves cheese n onion crisps too. He always investigates anything I'm eating or drinking! That's how I discovers he likes crisps and biscuits! He does not however like bananas...he thinks they are the food of the devil!

Mine love bananas, oranges, grapes, melon (water and yellow) cherries which the stallion will take very carefully out my finger tips... apples, all the fruit I leave the skin on....anything bread based, biscuits.. the stalks corn (on the cob) grows on, also carob beans as they grow over here and a friend saves them all for me.. bamboo ( grows on the side of the roads)
sweeties, I was selling my tractor and a couple came to look at it, and it was in the paddock the 2 mares were in... poor woman almost got mugged with them trying to sniff out her handbag... she had cough sweets in there... well she DID... haha...

they dont like.. spinach, broccoli, parsnips,

When I was a kid I used to help look after a donkey & he used to love me giving him salt and vinegar "Frisps" (crisps)

H loves pear, polos, likits, apples, carrots & sometimes satsumas

Did give him a crisp the other day as was eating them but he wasn't keen!

I've tried our lot on all sorts of things!

Cider (straight from the can), one of them drinks it 'properly', the rest have to do the head tilting thing as you pout it in the side.

One loves coke, but again only the fat stuff!

My little hairy beast adores grapes. It's very, very amusing. Grape, grape, grape, cherry tomato (which he HATES and pulls the best faces over!), grape, grape...you get the idea. :D

One loves those premade chicken tikka slices for sarnies!

Ginger biscuits for all but one of them, and he acts like it's poison.

Tea, but not coffee.

Had a guy who adored banana's, but he's gone now and everyone else hates them.

Cheese burgers from maccy d's.

Chips, but only with no vinegar, preferably with tomato sauce...and this is the horse who won't eat real ones! :D

Normally they only get a few of those apple treat biscuits you can buy though, they all love those.
