Ok Ive been thinking about buying some for quite a while now because i need extra grip and dont have the confidence to keep my heel down the whole time as i feel my foot will slip.

I rode in plastic stirrups once and found they were too light and my foot slipped even more then when i ride with my normal steel irons. However these were just 'normal' plastic irons with plastic treads.

I actually thought about buying plasic irons and the metal cheesegreater treads seperately so it is much cheaper(as a friend did) but then now im thinking - well i found plasic irons too light.

Well anyway what im gettin at is, would it be poss to just get cheesegreater treads and use them with my normal metal irons or would this be dangerous?

Or is there any other sort of stirrups which help with grip?

Thanks x

See previous thread - Cotswoldsport is selling just the treads on eBay for £10. These can be used on any stirrups, so you could use flexible ones which help keep the heel down.

Frogpool also sell the treads, but they are £17.99

mine are Will Funnell.. think they were £25 off ebay.

I tried to find the cheesgrator treads on their own to put in my bendy stirrups but couldn't find them anywhere.

If Razz was out BSJAing atm i'd let you borrow them to ride round in somewhere but he's down doing lil unaff stuff indoors atm cos he finds all too scary!
