Just wondering if anyone was heading to the festival, im not i really wish i was though even though i know lots of people who are. Who do you think will win what? I was at warwick yesterday and had a picture with Sam Waley-cohen, he was really friendly, he gave me a hug (one women wearing a kauto star scarf went up to him and gave him a kiss! she could have at least taken the scarf off) and because he was so lovely (friendlier than when i met ruby walsh) i wished him luck for the gold cup, even though i do want Kauto to win. (met 6 jockeys that day!)

so who do you think will win what?

Would love to go, too busy at work tho, work on a stud so lots of foals!:( Only live bout 15 mins away so its very annoying! Will listen to it on the radio and record it to watch when we get home to chear on the ones by the sires at work:D

I'm going on Friday, can't wait. I'm backing Kauto all the way, but I don't think it's going to be easy for him. Would be a fairy tale ending to his career though, what a high to retire on.

Im not going but will record it so i can watch it when i get in from work:)

I just hope Kauto comes back safe on Fri and is retired.

I can see them carrying on next year if he wins/ runs well.

Just hope its not another Best Mate scenario...

I wish I was as I worship Kauto Star!!!! Well jelous of anyone going and well jelous of anyone who gets to see Kauto for real! Its going to be my lifetime goal to meet Kauto!!! Haha have fun if your going!!! :)

im very jelous of you that are going!!! ive got the morning line and the actual festival all on record, come on kauto!! i saw him at haydock in the betfair chase and he is stunning in real life, everyone was cheering him was he paraded before the race and after everyone went mad! (including me!)

I'm going on Friday too - can't wait!! Especially now King Kauto a confirmed runner :D

I have a sneaky feeling he can beat Long Run again and all reports from Ditcheat seem to say he's on top form. Would love to see him win - won't be a dry eye in the house :) If he runs up to the form he's shown this season, pretty sure there will be no announcement on retirement. Why would you? Clearly a horse that thrives on his racing and training and to be fair to both Paul Nicholls and Clive Smith, they can be relied upon to do what's right for the horse. He has run less as he's got older and I'm sure they'll take a view at the start of the new season

Also looking forward to seeing Sprinter Sacre in the Arkle tomorrow - although bit of a shame he's had quite a few running scared and now only 6 confirmed runners! Think he probably is every bit as good as he appears

Binocular for me in the Champion Hurdle tomorrow with Overturn at a big price each way. Can't really see Sizing Europe or Big Bucks getting beat

Love the Festival ... bring it on!!

I can't quote as I'm on my phone but pretty sure they've said he'll be retired after this gold cup. I can't remember where I heard it though.

I want to go Friday but can't get tickets now. Gutted

My husband goes EVERY year and says this is not an issue, if you don't have tickets there are always tickets for sale from ticket touts. The price is usually only about £5 over the ticket price, the Police don't worry about it at all, they are chatting with the touts most of the time!!! He says do not let it put you off going. He's there Thursday and Friday. He's been going for about 15 years now.

There's a video clip on the BBC sport website where Clive Smith hints that he'll retire but doesn't actually say it.

If he wins (and I think he'll need to jump the last with a pretty decent lead over Long Run otherwise he'll get caught up the hill) it would be insane to carry on and not retire. There would be absolutely nothing more he could do.

I went last year on the Friday and although it was great to see Kauto and Denman (and long run!) it was just so rammed it's really annoying!! Maybe it's just that I'm a grump, but having a little gold cup party at home this year instead. :)

I think his jumping could put Long Run under pressure, as he did in the betfair, and Ruby Walsh is a master tactician which has got to be a huge bonus

As for retirement - as long as he remains in one piece, healthy and happy, then that will do for me. There were a lot who called for his retirement last season as he failed to sparkle - PN never confirmed they were considering this .... and how right he was! For whatever reason, he just wasn't the same horse then but you'd have to say he's bang on form again now. They know the horse best, and as previosuly said, can be relied upon to do the right thing for KS. His age doesn't seem to have hampered him this season and PN has said that he's as good now as ever. Sixth King George?!?
