Chest abscess

I presume you mean an external abscess in which case I have.It was on the front of his chest , probably a thorn. I held a poultice over it every day until it popped-not for long, just about 10-15 mins. Carried on for a couple of days after it burst then let it drain naturally. Considering it was quite a small abscess a lot of pus came out and a couple of weeks later it came up again but was tiny and burst when touched. I would point out that the horse wasn't ill at any time, if your horse seems off colour I would call vet and get some antibiotics.
