My poor boy has to live in a fly sheet 24/7 he comes up in awful hives even at one bite otherwise he is also enormously sensitive.

He has 4 different brand makes as the cut on all of them are slightly different and therefore the pressure points are different - they are on rotation too to try and avoid hair loss problems, though regardless how often we replace the rug forward so as not tight on his chest he is bald and pinky sore in the middle bit where the straps meet.

I remember seeing on "Yogis 12" on good old Horse & Country TV that one of Pippas horses had what I can only presume was a gamgee wedged between the horse and rug straps itself - has anyone else come across this or have any bright ideas what we could do????

Im not sure a sheepskin wither pad would stay put???

Sorry this is so long for such a meagre problem...

Have you tried using a lycra bib?
My TO rugs rub my horse and I tried him in one of these and it stopped the rugs from rubbing him. you would be able to put a piece of gamgee between the horse and the bib aswell, would probably keep it more secure than having it between the rug and the horse.

This is the thing I think its becuase he has been hot last two days that sweat / open pores / friction have made it like this.

For the time being Mum and I came up with the genius idea of one of grannys massive breathable plasters which she has left over from a leg ulcer (!!) stuck on and the rug done up at the bottom and left the top open - he really is a tricky one...

The bibs look good, if a little like a horse bra!!! hehe
