I have a 16.1 solid riding 5 year old maxi cob and am looking at the cheval trailer with the tack room. However I'm reading that they're designed for horses up to about 16h and given his sheer width, despite being only an inch over I'm thinking will that cause me an issue? I've currently got the single which is fine but doesn't have a tack room. Any thoughts on these with a horse of this size?

I’ve got a 16.1hh TB and he fits fine in my CL Tourer with tack room. If I had the choice I would go for the XL now but back then it didn’t exist!

I would suggest borrowing one and see how he fits? Height wise I’d say it’s fine if he’s travelling on the drivers side, the issue would be if he was travelling on the passenger side so to speak because that might be a bit tight for him width wise because of the turn to get down the off ramp…if he’s alone then that’s fine as you can fully open the breast bar and push the partition across etc to unload him

I've got a 15hh ish and it was too tight a squeeze than I felt comfortable with unloading him [past the tackroom].

I really didn't like mine so sold it and went back to ifors.

I've got one and I have a 14.2 heavy cob he fits in fine but I'm not sure I'd like to have a big wide horse in there. I do love the tack area though, it's so handy for keeping everything in!

I have a huge 16hh appy. I bought full width bars for mine and it’s perfect. I don’t need to travel two; if I did he would be too big with the partition in
