Looking at buying a double Cheval, I really like the ones with the tack lockers but a couple of people have said they have known those with chunky horses (mine are all cobs) struggle to navigate out of the trailer past the locker. Had anyone got any experience please ?

They have just designed a bigger version called the XL. Probably now closer to an ifor 511 in size now.

Yes we have one! I absolutely love it!! They recommend for horses up to 16hh ish...the main reason is if you travel a horse on the left (as in if you had 2 horses in it) the space to get out is quite snug due to the position of the tack locker. Height is good, the locker is fab and the suspension is amazing, horses travel so well in it! We had a fussy pony who wasn't great and loading but since we had the trailer he walked on and travelled like a dream.

Just be aware you cannot open the tack locker door unless the front ramp is down...not a big deal just means you can't get in and out of the locker without the ramp open.

If you have a horse over 16hh Id go for the new XL version which has just been released this month. Honestly the best trailers, the reviews speak for themselves!

I have one and love it! My biggest one is only 14.2 but they are built like tanks, we've had no problems getting past the tack locker.
When I first saw inside I did wonder if they'd fit in ok ,but once they were in there was actually plenty of room.

I had a new one for my 15hh and I hated it.

Partly my fault because I didn't think through ramp needing to be down to open tack room 🤦🏼‍♀️

I didn't like that they're built for driving on the other side of the road.

The grooms door is on drivers side aka where we travel one horse. So also where haynet is.

Lack of suitable tie up points. I fixed an equi-ping to the handle at the side but it wasn't a great set up. Tying the haynet up on the ring off the tackroom put it well out of reach of my stubby necked 15 hander

My horse has always been great at loading and would walk through fire if I asked. He didn't like this trailer at all.

He loaded OK first time but was sticky going forward. He even ran out backwards one time which he's never done before. Even although he's fairly small and nimble I never used front ramp because of the tack room. It would be fine if driving on the other side of the road but not uk. I personally wouldn't like to use the front ramp taking a horse from UK drivers side.

I just didn't get on with it and found it really faffy. It made me miss my ifor.

Ultimately I sold it because the plan was to get something with living space but the horse has had other ideas about staying in one piece and doing work so transport hasn't been a priority. I wouldn't get another though

I have one and travel chunky arabs varying from 14h to 15.3h in mine, never had a problem with them finding it too small to come out of the front ramp or reaching the haynets that I tie to the ring on the tack locker. All of mine travel really well in it.
