Ok - slightly wierd I know but last night I was having a walk and trot in the menage and when I stopped to talk to someone who had come to the fence my lad made a b-line for the fence and proceeded to start eating it!

Obviously pulled him away and thought no more of it.

Anyway, when I got off at the end, was running my stirrups up and he stretched as far as he could to get to the fence and chew it again? He was really quite desperate to get to it (think same level of desperation as if someone was holding out a carrot!;))

Then again as I led him out of the gate as I turned him to close it he grabbed it again.

When I first asked for trot last night he was really grumpy - ears flat back - but when encouraged he did some lovely work. He was also very tense/nervous in the stable last night (is the nervous type anyway but last night more than normal)

I am now wondering if this is something to worry about as it is just not like him and seems a very strange thing to do? Could it be a nervous reaction of some sort?

Any thoughts greatly appreciated.
