Advise please? Mixture of frizzles (urgh) and silkie chicks who will need a coop in a month or so. I plan to let them be free range in garden (big, fairly enclosed with chicken wire around most of the post and rail) but only if I'm around- as imagine foxes will be an issue.

So they will need a coop and a run. I'm assuming if the run is good enough (am looking at the Omlet ones with the lip to stop predators digging in), you don't then need to worry about shutting the coop door at night because predators can't get in anyway..? If not I'll need to look at an automatic door I guess but working out very expensive!!

The omlet set up is about £350 quid for a 2m run included, I have 8 chicks and intend to keep half (assuming I get at least 4 hens). Would a 2m run be big enough? Are there any cheaper options or ways of doing this out there?

I'm raising 4 Buff Orpingtons myself and these are my first chickens. An experienced chicken owning friend steered me to that site. There is lots of good info and you can join and ask questions.
