My chicken had her foot stood on by one of the horses and looks like she broken a toe. iv box rested her but she still limping after a week how long if ever will it repair or is it another vet job

If it's just a toe thats damaged, make sure it's not infected first & there is no broken skin. If it is then treat accordingly.

Then what ive used with great results is a matchstick cut to length to make a splint & then vetwap. Obviously the vet wrap is also cut to suit a chicken toe ;)
I then check every week but i also check the bird every day to make sure the splint is ok. Had great success with doing this even with bad breaks.

Had this with one of mine. horse stood on her and broke her toe.... was a bit of a mess but I cleaned it up, used wound powder to dry it out and vet wrapped - cut tiny little strips from a roll which seemed to work quite well.

I put a bit of dressing on it then wrapped the vetwrap round. changed it every day as she got it dirty and had to clean it up quite a lot every day but she recovered relatively quickly and even carried on laying during her recovery.

as w_d says... watch out for infection,

you could use a little piece of vetwrap to support the toe while it heals but ours that broke a toe ate the vetwrap!

it will take 3ish weeks to heal, best to let her get on with being a hen and just check the toe daily!

Just let her be and she will manage!

Many moons ago a pony trod on a pullet and actually amputated her leg above the knee.
The kids at the riding school hid her from me until she was quite big and by that time she managed perfectly well. Even known as Peg Leg though all the pegs the kids tried, never worked.
