hihi.
just an update for those who are interested ( an excuse to spam pictures haha)
Noah is 8 week years old today, it is clear now he will be short haired, well an" inbetween", but I guess thats what I get from buying him from a dodgy source and rushing into things p; ( I was looking for long haired) however I'm utterly smitten and I love this bright little monster.
I can't believe how much he has grown since I've last posted and how little he was when I actually first got him, anyways spamspam

What a beautiful little pup!

He is very definately a smooth coat, long coats are obvious from about 3 weeks and would be pretty fluffy by 8 weeks but Noah is a lovely little guy :D

Looks like you are doing a good job with him BUT the two long coat chis you saw cannot be his parents as L/C is recessive to smooth so where did he come from?
Long coat x smooth can give smooth - is the dodgy breeder buying in puppies or just rather lax with matings?

I love the way he backs up to remove himself from temptation when you put the treat in front of him.:D At least you were aware his breeders were dodgy and the fact he is not a long coat obviously does not make a jot of difference to you, just hope there is no one else out there who is disgruntled they haven't got a long coat and are looking to pass him/her on.

Ets. Just seen your reply to s4s, so ignore my second sentence :)

I never saw the dad, I mistook him for another dog apparantly that they where pointing at to compare his sizing, so I got confused, so I assume he is short haired, otherwise I don't know.
Obviously I was rather disappointed when it was becoming clear he was going to be short but hes mine now and I love him so what can you do really. It's my fault for not being more educated at the time, otherwise I would of clearly been able to tell.

Thankyou for all the nice comments btw x

You can stop them conning other people. Do you have a copy of the advert and a pedigree for your boy?
Trading standards and the Licencing department of the local council as well as HMRC might be very interested. Most people only buy a puppy every yen yeas or so which allows dodgy breeders or, possibly in your case, home based dealers to keep getting away with the scam. Look at the Dog breeder Norfolk thread.

I've already read that thread,
I've written a email to two enviromental health contacts under two councils as I'm not entirely sure which she'd fall under, these are the only contacts I can seem to find that would address this issue?

I have no pedigree for him, nothing.
Adverts are still online and possibly in the paper but not much is said.

Would the council just check her out? I don't particularly want to get too involved and especially not known.

Alot of it is my own fault.

Midi Noah is very cute, one of my best friends bought a Chi(he didnt tell me til after) it is a rare lilac colour so he coughed up £1800. He was hoping to show it but its not a recognised colour so he cant, if only he had spoken to me first.

Depends what she advertises them as -purebred, pedigree? Long coated? and how many bitches she has or litters a year. Trading standards can't do muchunless she is making false claims.

People often say the papers don't matter but how are you to know he hasn't been bred form one of the many stolen chihuahuas? If a dog could be registered but isn't there is something dodgy somewhere. It may be a bitch with too many/too frequent litters, quite often it is because a breeder has sold a pet puppy with the endorsement "progeny not eligible for registration" and sometimes it is because anything vaguely resembling the breed turns out puppies in a shed somewhere and a couple of examples of the breed are used a window dressing.
BTW it costs just £13 to register a puppy with the Kennel Club. (& it has just gone up)

Actually, the only colour you cant register with chi's is merle. "Lilac" sounds like a puppy farmer word for cream or blue fawn to me though.

£1800 is crazy money for a chi pup. We sell our KC reg, show potential, champion import sired pups for less than £1000!!

Well having met Princess Pasha(yes that her name) I would say she is a sort of dull blue with some light tan, they definately did him over, he showed me the email he had from the breeder and she said other people had offered her more but she stuck to her word as she was promised to my friend. Im sure she is KC reg he is not that daft to not have her papers, at least I hope so. He is the friend that breeds Spyhnx cats and he is scrupulous over them and extremely fussy over who he sells to.

Lilac is puppy farmer speak for isabella -the dilute that gives blue on chocolate the same as the fawn in Dobes. Similar in appearance to blue fawn but not the same genetically.

Sounds like a blue and tan. Not uncommon in america but not so popular over here. They often have alopecia in blue chi's, something to watch out for. They are an acceptable colour and I have seen some being shown, if its KC reg he can show it :)
