Anyone know of any good yards round the Greenmount area of Bury that welcome supervised children, my sister is planning on buying a first pony for my 7 year old niece but can't really buy until she knows where she can put it. Probably full or part livery until they have more experience, niece has been having riding lessons for 2 years and has joined the pony club via the riding school (seems they do lessons for kids there but don't have many kids based there).

She is best off renting her own field tbh. I encountered so many problems with yards not allowing kids when I was looked for a stable that I rented my own!

I have a VERY responsible 11 year old girl who is a friend's daughter who helps me out and rides the old mare at the weekends and on school holidays and my 8 year old son who I don't have anyone to babysit him so a place were kids were welcome was a must.

I used to have a nightmare finding yards when my daughter was little - I did eventually get lucky and found a brilliant yard then had to leave when we moved north!

As sidesaddlegirl said, renting might be an option though if your sister is inexperienced it might be worth sticking with a riding school just now

Hi there,
can anyone at the new pony club not recommend a yard they might be your best bet.
Yards are good as long as you take all advice with a pinch of salt as everybody tends to have an opinion and speaks it often.
good luck with the hunt though.
