Hello,
My dear daughter of 9 has totally outgrown her tweed jacket and I was just looking at a replacement online. I've noticed that you can get quite a few black hunting coats in girl's size 28" upwards. I thought children should stay in tweed?

Is it tradition to also wear black at such young age? The only reason I'd like the idea is that it seems the black coats come in heavyweight and most tweed jackets are rather thin.

Thank you for your comments in advance.

Only tweed, NEVER children in black, although it does seem horribly common (at all levels) nowadays. Tweed and brown jod boots really, although I do understand the extra support offered by long boots.
You can get really good heavy tweed jackets.

That's what I thought. Just wouldn't look right. I'll go and hunt for a heavy one. She has jodhpurs on but I do let her have some tidy brown chaps for warmth and more protection.

18? I thought it was 16! Please tell me I can get away with my daughter's tweed for one more year?! She's been a subscriber for the last 7 years and last season people kept asking when she was going to change her coat so I just assumed.

She can wear tweed as long as she likes, adults can wear it too. I would say 18, but tbh unless they ask to see her birth certificate who is to know!?

Of course. But she can't earn her collar whilst still in tweeds. She's 17 now. But we are wondering if this will be her last season for a while as a subscriber. Uni is looming!
