Child off ponies

I'd take it to mean the same as 'child out of ponies' i.e. now on horses because of either age/size etc.
Or I suppose it could mean 'child lost interest in ponies'

Just seen other post, I'd say the above still if the advert was for 14.2 or under, if over 14.2 I'd agree with the poster who said it means suitable first horse for a child coming up from ponies.

My daughter 13 and 5.4 , so ponies to small , but I was sold a horse and very next day of bring her home threw her off twice , it is now so forward going and responsive , even I struggle

Agree with s4sugar, world of difference between a first horse for a novice, & a first horse for a teen that's owned & ridden ponies most of their life.

A horse suitable for a child off ponies, to me, is usually about 15hh-15.3hh and pony-like in their attitude so got the pony brain and quick-thinking but with an extra couple of inches added in height.

Not suitable as a first horse- marketed at children who have spent a while on ponies having fun and learning their trade. Often got a bit more attitude and want more forward/ positive riding.

ETA- children tend, in this sort of description, to be about 15/16 years old. So they've literally had to move off ponies...

Can you define child off ponies , as I have been robbed from a dealer because of this status

I guess you didn't ask the dealer what they defined 'child off ponies' as before committing to a purchase? I doubt you could claim to have been robbed if you didn't ask (apology's if you did):o.
