Children and Yards

Just wondering how many people have their horses on livery and have young children? How do you cope? I have two tricky horses and currently have them at home. Just thinking ahead and there may be a chance I have to put them in livery. I find it easier to do stuff with them at home as I can nip out and muck out as and when I want, i.e baby nap times etc. Plus at home my fields are next to the stables, wheras all the yards I'v been on I'v had to walk a fair bit to get to fields! This would be tricky to do and would upset daughter if I left her in the car for 20 mins or so whilst I turned out! Also farrier etc is much easier at home.
I know there's the option of full or part livery which would probably suit better but I'm funny about people doing my horses as they are pretty neurotic!! Although probably my best bet.

Just wondering how you all cope really!!

I tried DIY when my children were younger but for the reasons you have stated, it wasn't easy. I put mine on a part livery yard .

It would probably be as cheap as well as more convenient to get either a freelance groom to come in or get some childcare in at home.

If you have space you could offer someone reduced/free DIY in exchange for assistance with your horsecare.
