Hi, has anyone any idea on what size tweed jacket would fit a 3yo boy, (age 3-4 in childrens clothes) the jacket sizes in inches mean nothing to me!

Thanks, and if anyone knows of anywhere to get a really nice tweed jacket (as above) second hand or sensibly priced, please let me know

thanks

RD

I have one and can check on size in morning (don't want to disturb sleeping child).
He wore it when he was 4. It's caldene and has brown velvet collar. It is brown tweed. It was only used a couple of times and has been cleaned. It's a lovely jacket. I also have a black sj jacket about the same size, also caldene. Was just about to put them on e-bay.

Try Ebay - absolutely brilliant for chidlren's jackets as they are so expensive and get grown out of before they are worn out. We outfitted dd in ebay jackets for years. (She's 10 now and a bit fussy!)

Jacket sizes depend not only on the chest measurement (which gives you the inches) but also on sholder breadth. So if you have a really lithe slim 4 year old you'd be looking at soemthing very small - dd wore a 16" at about 4. They are quite hard to find because they're so small. But - mummy tip here - if you stick the body protector underneath the jacket you can add another 2 - 4 inches. Little one looks like a weeble - but jackets are much easier to find at 18" plus. If you have a more robust 4 year old then you'll need to start at 18" or possibly 20" as a minimum.

As a slightly older guide my daughter wears a 24" (still! arghh - they don't make pretty SJ jackets smaller than a 26!) and she's 10. But her best freind who is also 10 wears a 28". They are the same height - but different builds.

What you can try if your son is patient enough is go to a local tack shop and try them all on to get the right size. Then go buy them off ebay. bit cheeky - but I can't be the only one who does that!

just checked the sizie and can't find a label with the size on it. I have held it up against the black one which is a 26. The tweed one is about an inch longer and the sleeves are about an inch longer too. Kyle was slim and a wee bit taller than normal at that age.
I can e-mail you a pic of it. He could wear them with a body protector underneath comfortably. They grow into things quickly anyway lol
