They are meets held - usually in school holidays - aimed at introducing children to hunting.
There are experienced adults on hand to mentor, catch loose ponies and generally help the kids - although IME most kids are more capable than the adults!
The meet is usually held in a part of the hunt country with fewer big jumps (or near the local XC course!) and there is also a non jumping splinter group.
Adults would be welcome - make sure you ring the secretary first and ask permission to go out though
Helps the sec if they know roughly how many to expect and they can identify and welcome any strangers
Ah thats cool, my friends a novice, and I thought this kinda thing might be good for her I shall message the hunt secretary and ask!! Thanking you muchly!!
It does depend on the hunt. Some of our children's meets only permit mounted adults if they are leading or a member of hunt staff. Newer adults are asked to come to newcomer meets instead. But if you ask the secretary they'll be happy to advise.
