They are meets held - usually in school holidays - aimed at introducing children to hunting.

There are experienced adults on hand to mentor, catch loose ponies and generally help the kids - although IME most kids are more capable than the adults!

The meet is usually held in a part of the hunt country with fewer big jumps (or near the local XC course!) and there is also a non jumping splinter group.

Adults would be welcome - make sure you ring the secretary first and ask permission to go out though :)

Helps the sec if they know roughly how many to expect and they can identify and welcome any strangers :)

Which is your local hunt?

It does depend on the hunt. Some of our children's meets only permit mounted adults if they are leading or a member of hunt staff. Newer adults are asked to come to newcomer meets instead. But if you ask the secretary they'll be happy to advise.
