I was just wondering if i was the only person to get these on their thighs!!! If you do do you have any wonder cure cos the cream i got from boots does nothing. They are really painfull and i have a scar from one i got last year because a lovely horse kicked me on one of them.

I get them on my thighs too. The creams are all rubbish! All you can do is keep them warmish (not hot) and dry and wait for them to get better. Oh and try not to scratch....although I find a little gentle rub is quite soothing.

Try Musto Snug jods or leather/suede long chaps, that works a treat at keeping the cold off.

i used to get them on my thighs, you're the only other person i've known of who has had them there. very painful.
snowfire stick worked, i think i got it from boots.
what really works, but i only found out last winter, is having your core warm enough (down bodywarmer etc) so your body doesn't pull all the blood back from your extremities. so: down bodywarmer, woolly hat all the time (other than when i have a crash hat on, obv), and musto snug thermal winterweight joddies = no more chilblains.
oh, and never getting in a hot bath when your skin's still cold... as i used to do.
hope that helps, i sympathise.

Don't get me started on chillblains!!! They're sooo painful, I feel for you I really do.

I get them on my fingers, hands, toes and thighs / bottom.

The only thing I have found that keeps them at bay is Aloe Vera Heat Lotion - you should be able to get it from a chemist or somewhere like Boots. It basically works like deep heat, I put i on my hands, feet and thighs before I go out and am usually ok.
However I lost it the other day, and now am covered in the damn things!

As said above, keep your core warm. I find wearing a neck warmer thing works, I'm sure scarves work just as well but they drive me insane!

Also, I wear rambo full chaps which helps with my thighs but if I'm riding in strong winds or in the open I can still get them on my bum - not pleasant.

The only downside to the Aloe Vera Lotion is that due to the smell (deep heat) my OH wont come near me...

And finally, again - as said above, don't get into a hot bath or shower when you're cold - not great if you're like me and always end up doing the horses at warp speed because you're supposed to be going out somewhere...!

i only seem to get them on my thighs! every one seems to think im odd getting them there have also been known to get them on my ear too!
have heard snowfire gd but not used myself though. have used sudocream and aquoues (sp?) cream which seems to help a bit and have also tried some stuff which smelt like deep heat which helped a bit too. at the mo been wearing two lots of thermal leggings with jods then shires full chaps on top.

I get them all over. Went for ride today and hands and feet so painful. I could never go to the North Pole it would be awful. All I can say is stay fit, dont smoke, eat well and buy an AGA! Lol! never tired a cream just grim and bear it and layer up when I go out and have welly warmers!

I get them on my thighs too, but nowhere else (thank God!)

So does Pippa Funnell so we're in good company lol! I get them almost every year, creams do nothing but I have some Mountain Horse long john type things and last year I didn't get them for the first time ever.

I have awful scars on my legs now too and they always feel really cold even now.

i get them on my thighs too

thermal long johns & rambo waterproof padded trousers.

Someone also recommended Gingko Biloba, I have got some but can't tell if it works yet.

I get them on my toes too and they are terrible. Think mine are caused by my feet getting cold whilst riding or just down the yard, getting in the car and putting the blower on full heat to try and defrost my poor toes

My Mum gave me some Aloe gel last week when I went round there and was trying to scratch my toes on her rug!!!! it worked well and *touch wood* they have not come back....mind you i've taken the blower off my feet in the car as well.

I get them on my thighs. A few years ago they were so bad I went to the doctor who firstly told me I had ringworm, then I was allergic to starw (on my thighs??) then I saw a specialsit who explaiined it was fat globules dieing due to lack of blood supply, and breaking down under the skin.
My thighs were even published in a medical journal as many doctors mis-diagnose them. He refered to it as 'rider's thighs'

You have to keep warm bascically. I wear tights under my joddies, and if very cold, a pair of old jeans over the top of them!

I used to have to peel the sheets off my thighs where they had burst overnight........or I'd scratched them in my sleep. Thermals and lots of layers, vitamin B12 capsules, and as a last resort wiping them with a (your own!) pee soaked cloth!! An old lady told me years ago that every morning in the winter she used to paddle in her chamber pot; her husband told her that she would never get chilblains on her toes again if she did this and she swore by it.

I wear thermal long Johns from about October through to April, and have avoided chill blains on my thighs for the past few years. I also wear ski trousers when it gets really cold - but I have just got a pair of Mountain Horse overtrousers to keep me toasty! When I am teaching I will often wrap up in horse blankets too for that extra bit of warmth!

I sufferd really bad for 3 winters on the trot my feet, thighs and fingers were so painful i had every cream on the market until my Nans sister told me to use my own pee yes it sounds grim but it worked it cleared up the ones i had and the each winter if i feel them coming the pee cloth comes out. I do beleive there are more things to wear now than back then i swear by joules overtrousers they are great even comfey enough to wear without anything under but also roomy enough for tights and jods did the trick for me

ME ME ME!!, I get them to, until this post and one a few weeks ago I thought I was a freak!, I to have some scars which aren’t nice. I haven’t yet found anything that works but have a snow fire stick on my shopping list!, I do try and wear lots of layers but when I’m riding etc I find it really bulky. I Hadn’t thought about tights tho so I shall try them as there not bulky.

I have them on the bottom of my feet,i have a large brush door mat oooh it feels so good to scratch them on that,no creams work,so i keep them warm and snug
