A mammoth update!

So, it turns out that when I don't have riding as my stress reliever I turn to online shopping!! Somehow, two gorgeous pads made their way into my basket. I think my fingers must have slipped... But that's Aquamarine and Orchid Mauve knocked off the wish list:D

Apparently this is the face you pull when you have a sniff of your gammy leg

Vet is out again on Monday to re assess. Hoping that it can't be tooooo many more weeks now before she can play out again. She has been sad watching all of her friends going out to play in the snow, but still managed a little investigation.

Pre-cleaning looks pretty gross but it looks lovely post cleaning and looks like it’s healing really well. Is the pre-cleaning ooze just from the leg or are you applying something?

P.s she’s so pretty :)

Ooze from the leg! Yummy yummy yellow that I get to sniff on the dressing to make sure all is smelling good! And thank you, might be biased but I totally agree. She is a mega babe...

Ah fab update, though looks a bit grim before cleaning , love the sleepy snow pic :).

It is a bit grimbles isn't it?! Luckily I don't mind it at all... Thank goodness! And yes, it is not possible to open one's eyes when they are being attacked by snow flakes, don't you know?

Only just seen this - lord they do manage to injure themselves in bizarre ways!

Looking good though and fingers crossed for a rapid recovery.

Looking good. She a very beautiful horse and the new saddle pads really suit her!

Has the vet advised anything to get rid of the proud flesh? We used an activated charcoal paste (equisomething?) to 'burn back the proud flesh. Had to put it on and bandage for a week. Looked pretty messy when the bandage came off but then healed really well with hardly any scar and initial wound was wider in parts than Chilli's. My understanding is that the cells that migrate across the wound to start to heal the skin layers can only go across. They can't go up and across so you have to get the flesh back level with the existing skin to allow the healing process... some vets debride the wound but ours gave us this paste. Hopefully your vet is on it already.

This photo is from a few days ago, the vet has given us some gel to use to combat the proud flesh which, so far, is doing a fab job *touch wood*.

She has also had the go ahead for small bits of turnout. The fields are still far too bad and muddy for her to go out in so she's enjoying the outdoor.

Will try to remember to get a pic of how it looks today! And one more for luck, her having a hand walk in bridle as she was slightly excited that day... Though for the most part she's taken this whole thing like a champ and I can't really fault her. I do need to fit her new noseband properly but it was a case of sling it on quick so she can go for a walk.

So pleased, all! And yes fab to be able to ride her at walk. Able to go a bit further and walk her for longer around areas I wouldn't be entirely happy to hand walk her!

Thanks all :) I'll take another photo tomorrow as I am not at the yard again this evening. Mum is going back and doing both the horses for me so that I can see a friend :)
