My TB chipped his canon bone 6 weeks ago. He's just finished 6 weeks box rest. He's starting to go out now. Has anyone else had this happen and how long till back in work? He's completely sound and rather full of it. Having to sedate him today keep him calm most days which I don't want to do really.

Mine chipped a hind on the side and formed a sequestrum. She was mildly lame for a week, then I rode her, not knowing any better at the time (many years ago). She was fine. The chip was the size of my thumb nail, how big is yours? Surely if it's only a chip it will be healed by now? A bone broken right through heals in that time in a human. What's your vet saying?

Mine was his hind. Had a nasty deep cut. X-ray when he first did it, then 2 weeks later. I'm going to have a chat with her later as she's only said 6 weeks box rest then to start being turned out and kept calm. Easier said than done with an ex racer after 6 weeks box rest!! It wasn't that big really. Just wanted to know other people's experiences as well. He's completely sound and wound is nice and healed also.
