Chipped tooth?

I noticed yesterday that Ellie has chipped one of her teeth! I dont think I've ever known a horse break a tooth before - dogs do it all the time I know, but eating stones are normally the culprit there! It doesnt seem to be causing her any problems, I just wondered whether anyone else has had a horse do it before - its not a big chip, just a small chunk from the bottom, but certainly enough that I noticed it straight away. This isnt the best of photos, but she was intent on munching her hay whilst I was trying to get a picture!

my tb chipped one of his front teeth but it was half way down,we got the vet out he cleaned it and said it looked like he had fell on it,and as he loves to gallop about and ive seen him fall over a few times we put it down to falling and hitting his face off a stone or somthing.this was about three years ago it didnt cause him any trouble eating or anything and has fully grown back now ,so if i was you i wouldnt worry

Thanks for the reply! This would kind of make sense - as you can see from my avatar, Ellie took a nose dive a couple of weeks ago

I wasnt aware that she hit her face on the ground that time, but it wasnt the only occasion I've known her do it so I guess it is quite likely that's what happened!

My advise to you would be, get the Dentist out

I had the dentist out when i got a new horse and he found that she had at some point broken one of her premolars!! she's only got half a tooth there. it causes her no problems now though. would love to know how she did that!!!
