Chiro and Bowen....? Both needed?

If a hose had quite a bad back issue that was then resolved by an extremely good and reputable chiropractor, who then visited intermittently to check the back (as the horse is now in ridden work) would you say that the horse also needed bowen therapy on top of this?

If a chiro is resolving issues, the pain is gone, back fine but of course with check ups, would it be unreasonable to say that without having bowen therapy, say, then the pain would always come back even though the results have dramatically improved with just having the chiro?

I'm an Equine Touch Practitioner and often work in tandem with a chiro, they are complementary, but I would suggest that, if the pain recurrs, there is an underlying issue that needs dealt with - often the feet, but could be saddle, rider - any number of things.

What if the pain was sorted dramatically (say a horse that couldn't cope with the slightest pressure on the back to being able to press very hard with no twitching) but the issue returned but only very very slightly (very slight twitch nothing much) which the chiro then came and sorted (being the second ever visit) and een the chiro saying how happy they are and that it is nothing much?

Is it unfair to say unless you have bowen the pain will always return or not? Surely a chiro would know what they are doing? Sorry not trying to sound rude or anything just extremely interested in all sides :)

Vet vet vet, you vet should be recommending what treatment needs to be happening. If it is not being cured by a couple of treatments by any alternative treatment then you need to consult your vet for a full workout. Any chiro, physio etc that recommend more than two treatments then you should consult your vet for their opinion.

Also you should have your vets agreement before any alternative therapist should look at your horse.

Bowen didn't work at all on my horse, despite several treatments.
The (recommended by the vet) chartered horse physio did wonders, however!

Up to you, but check with your vet as mentioned previously.

If the chiro is happy then I don't know why you would need anything else - are you under some sort of pressure? (All complementary treatments should be OK'd by a vet)

This chiro has been twice and is very happy with the treatment. She said that if it hadn't improved by the second visit then it would be a vet consultation, which I fully agree with. But chiro is very happy and its better then she expected. It is 'normal'! A friend recommended bowen but i was a bit dubious as i said chiro was happy, I didnt know you had to seek vet before alternative therapy but good job as not going bowen route. thanks you have all answered my questions, be them a bit random :)
