Do you like pointers? They are really good fun and hardly moult at all (well the short haired variety anyway) Ours is a bit crackers but mega friendly and quite well behaved. She is very pretty!
Yep I love pointers, especially german shorthaired pointers but OH doesn't seem keen for some reason so I'll have to ask him again and find out why.
I think we're going to go and chat to breeders of collies, retrievers and then a breed we both pick.
I've arranged an appointment tonight to go and see a retriver breeder and her bitches and dog and a couple of her puppies from the last litter. Purely to research and chat to a specialist on the breed.
I think I used to have one Tia, but we rescued him from a pound in the US so couldn't confirm it. Highly intelligent, active and he was a bit noisy!
We went to see some field golden retrievers tonight who were lovely. Much less hairy than OHs last one and still lots of energy in Mum as she was a working dog. Pups were hilarious too!
I don't want to jump at the first one I've seen though and OH is VERY keen on Tollers too. Shame the nearest breeder is hundreds of miles away
Each to their own and without upsetting any lab or retriever owners (and we've had both in the past) but I don't think you can beat rotties - fabulous dogs!

Our list was medium-big dog, friendly, intelligent, loyal...and I had active on mine and he didn't. He likes the fact that his old retriever was like a big rug.

Brilliant photo
We tend to go for a combination of terriers and longdogs - lurchers/greyhounds/deerhounds so your OH sounds set in his ways with a golden retreiver - it's going to take some persuading to change his mind - let it be known that this is YOUR dog!
