i've just seen the show schedule and am now choosing which classes to do. its only a local fun open show, so nothing serious. do you think he'd be ok for the riding horse/pony class? pic in sig below. he's quite fine and horse looking. would they mark him down a lot for havng a few small scars on his legs and a large one on his bum?? there is a class for lumpy bumpys! which we'll do as well, where they ignore all scars etc. i'm gonna be riding him in his everyday tack of dutch gag and martingale anyway otherwise i wont hve any control over his enthusiasm! there were plenty there in all sorts of tack at the same show last time, also ponies bucking their way round the ring! so i think its all quite casual. we're jst going for the experience (mine, not pony's!) and to hve some fun with our friends.

also, the novelty classes are listed under the in-hand ring. altho some rode in it last time, would it be better to show him in-hand? my concern is coz i'm hacking him down there and the ridden class will be our first, he'll hve sweat marks, so riding him would make sense in keeping marks covered up!

thx for any tips!

if you're going for the experience enter whichever class you want unless your tack is clearly stated as not allowed in rules (eg som equitation has to be snaffle). you might get marked down for having martingale/ gag but arnt going to be thrown out of the ring so if it is only experience you are after what does it matter? just remember to smile & have fun!
