Ahh i should have realised that, sorry feeling slightly fragile had a few vinos last night!! :D

My parents actually got me a loan pony for my xmas present many moons ago was my first pony too, i used to ride her in the riding school so they got me a part loan for paid for 6 month!!!! I do still remeber it now!!! Wasnt expecting it at all espeacially as they werent horsey at the time although both parents learnt to ride afterwards!! Maybe i should blame them though for me about to been ever so slightly skint now!!!!!;)

aaww i know theyre brilliant ahahha! it happened to me once when i was little. we tried out a pony and we were going to take her to a riding school but the instructor said she wouldnt be suitable and i was really upset! a few weeks later mum said we were going down to a friend's field to "measure out were to build a stable" as we might keep a pony there.....and there she was!!! hahahahha i loved it :) unfortunately no video...but there is a pic of her:

on a lighter note......everytime im on youtube i end up at these videos...either that or the cats!! :p

My grandma wrote in my 13th birthday card "I'm going to buy you a pony". Shame she didn't tell my parents first.

Don't have electronic photos as a very long time ago, but the pony I picked was a 14.1hh fleabitten grey part bred Arab. He was fab, very whizy and used to jog a lot but never came off him and he was the most fun.

My current horse was an early 30th birthday present from OH. Not a surprise though, I had decided to buy but everything I liked was out my price range so he very kindly offered :D

counting my blessings :)

mine was a pressie too, from OH, best present ever if Im honest.
Im a grownup though (debatable I suppose :p) Id have given anything to have a pony as a present when I was a kid. One of my friends did when she was about 13, big bow round its nexk and everything.

Yep, I've watched the videos. :D

Awwh I love it when their parents open the door and boom 'he's yours' kid: *screams* Me: *cries*

Mine was a present for my 14th, bought between my parents and both sets of grandparents. I had asked for a horse and only a horse so was really upset when I unwrapped a walkman. Much later as i was in bed my parents came into my room with an extra present, a soft toy horse with a label round its neck saying 'we o u 1!'. I so couldn't sleep! A few days later I was the proud owner of a 5 year old, 16.2 ISH. We had a few dramas at first and perhaps a big green youngster wasn't the most sensible choice as a first horse but 10 years later I've still got her :)

I knew I shouldn't have clicked on the link, now I'm snivelling over my keyboard and OH is giving me a very withering look.

I still expect a lorry to pull up on my Birthday and Christmas. OH would save such a lot of money if he just gave in...

I think its lovely & I could do it for my daughter in the way zoelouiseism has, but I'd struggle to completely suprise my 7 yr old, she's always very much had her own taste in ponies same as I do. I would like to do it in the future but already have her next pony lined up so she'll be early teens if I do.

We did this for my daughters 10th birthday. She had a shettie on loan who she was outgrowing and there was a pony for sale at the local riding school which she liked and had only been there a few weeks. She was a "known quantity" - or so we thought:D and very pretty flea bitten grey connie x arab 12yo. There is a pic of her in Marchtimes siggie.

We told my daughter her present had not arrived in the post on the morning of her birthday. When I picked her up from school I told her it had been delivered by mistake to the barn at the stables so we would stop and pick it up. We sent her in to find the "parcel" and said it would have a blue ribbon on it. The pony had blue ribbons in her mane and tail. My daughter walked in looked everywhere and walked out again saying she couldn't see it!! We sent her back and said look again and it still took ages for the penny to drop.

15 years later we still have "the old bag" and she is still loved very much. Somewhere in the loft are boxes and boxes of rosettes from every discipline - she was a real find:)

Christmas Day 1999

I had been helping out at/with Ponies for 2 years by then.

Was given a book to unwrap- turned out to be a gardening book- wasn't overly impressed but had a look through anyway...

Stumbled across a piece of Blue paper...

Turned out to be the registration paperwork for the Welsh A I had fallen in love with and had just broken in over the summer...

Turned paper over... Turned out that YO/Breeding/Owner of Pony had given her to me!!!

I was SOO excited that I cried and cried- then called YO to thank!!

I still have/ride pony (pic is my avatar)

STILL have Pony... and still have gardening book- which now I garden/allotment I cherish as book is a RHS book!!!

Great thread- looking forward to reading LOTS more Happy birthday/Christmas stories!!

Happy Wet Sunday to All!!

Aw she looked like a right character :D

This is my gorgeous (in my opinion, anyway!) lad - he was a Christmas present in the 1990s. I was about 9 or 10 and was riding a couple of times a week at a local riding school, where I'd fallen in love with one of the ponies and rode him as much as I could (no one else liked him :(, so I got to ride him quite a lot :D). I'd always been told I could have a horse when I was 18, so when Mum said 'if you could have any pony, which one would you want? Would you want to have one of the ponies you ride at the moment?' a few months before Christmas I didn't really click what was going on!

Unfortunately the only pictures I have from then are 'proper' photos (the ones from films!) so I'm going to try and upload one from last Christmas instead...

Ok, third time lucky and the picture works :) But now it's massive! Sorry... :o:o

we bought my daughters loan pony for her 11 th birthday , on the morning of her birthday i went off early and bought him down to the house "wrapped " in gold ribbons , got them from a florist whose face was a picture when i told her it was to wrap a pony :) , my daughter thought he'd come down to say happy birthday but we then handed her a card with the sales reciept in it , her face was a picture she was sooooo happy and just hugged him , we still have him he's 26 and daughter is 24 , can't part with him :)

We got my little sister a pony for christmas :D

A pony was what she asked for from father christmas and she looked rather dissapointed when she came downstairs on christmas morning and couldn't find a pony under the tree or in the garden. Then she opened a basket which had brushes in a looked rather confused as she didnt have a pony to use them on hehe.

Had to hide hazel away at the yard for a week so my sister didn't see her was very hard but managed to keep it a secret :)

I quickly rushed up the yard in the morning to prepare her present and leave a trail for her to follow to find her surprise :)

The look on her face when she opened the stable door was AMAZING :D

Here is a picture of Hazel on Christmas morning :D

I have been very lucky and have been given 2 horses for my birthdays. The first one was for my 18th, already had him, and I was due to pay my mum and dad back when I got a better job, but they gave him to me for my 18 and 21 birthday. On the day thought they had forgotten but when I got to the yard he was brought out covered in red ribbons, all in his mane and tail and a giant one around his neck, and I just cried my eyes out with shear delight. I sadly lost him many years later and again dear mum and dad lent me the money to buy Ebony, I started to pay back for her then had my horrid accident and could not work again and this time they gave her to me for my 40th birthday. These have to say are the best presents I have ever had. It may sound like my parents have lots of money but they do not, we have always worked hard for everything and I just have been so very lucky to have such wonderfull parents who know how much horses are a part of my life :o
