I've used Christophe Becquereau for several years and have always been pleased with him despite his unreliability! OH (who is medically trained and has also completed three quarters of an osteopathy course before "dropping out") doesn't like him and thinks he "cracks" before he "softens up". Anyway, I've been waiting for Christophe to come out to my horses since October - appointments made and then he's cancelled, last appointment cancelled being Monday before last. I've now decided to look elsewhere and someone has recommended Gavin Schofield...... opinions welcome, please!

I haven't heard of Christophe or his work, so cannot comment on him. However I have used Gavin for a few years now, and have had some amazing results. I was slightly sceptical at first as he uses such small, almost invisible movements, that I couldn't imagine how it could work. So I got him to treat my back as well as my horse, and it was amazing. I swear I walked out of there 2 inches taller and pain free too!

So definitely a vote for Gavin from me. My horses all react to him differently, some falling asleep, some yawning and one just fidgets. But they all ride so much better afterwards and seem happier to do so, and so it works for us.

Gavin is brilliant - he just looks at the horse and know where work is needed. I couldn't recommend him highly enough. I am sure he uses energy healing too - but his results speak for themselves.

The other great osteopath (also vet trained) is Donna Blinman at Higham - she also practices acupunture. She worked wonders by mobilising my WB's sacrum (he has chronic sacro illiac dysfunction).

Another vote for Gavin although in fairness I only know him also. As Irishcob says I didn't really see how it could work as sometimes he appeared to be barely touching my horse but he always felt so much better after a treatment. Also a lady at the yard used to have him treat her as well (I'm a freak and can't bear being touched so not really an option for me) and she also claimed so felt huge improvements.

Gavin has lots of fans, but some more guarded responses as well, personally speaking. Was treating my horse, but I was beginning to wonder why she needed repeated treatments. Saw another guy who said her problems started at the front end, which affected her back, so that was why she needed regular treatments. I only went to the second guy as Gavin was away for months and months and there didn't seem anyone local they would recommend while his was away. Second guy fixed the front end and she didn't need further back treatments. History of field accident and tension. Heard similar stories.

So, he has a great reputation but not everone suits 100% of people or horses.

Have no experience of Gavin but Christophe is brilliant, would highly recommend, sorted my boy in one session. Several other 'back ladies' had kind of sorted him each time but was only ever temporary, Christophe found the original cause of the problem straightaway (old shoulder injury which was having a knock on effect throughout his back), one session and he was a different horse and stayed that way. My friend has used him too with fantastic results with her mare, would def recommend

Thanks everyone for your replies! We're going to contact Gavin Scofield and give him a try! Have previously been happy with Christophe but SO unreliable! As I said, OH isn't impressed and feels Christophe is just a "showman"! I've always really rated Christophe but will now give Ggavin a try! Thanks again!
