My highland now 18 is retired. Stifle injury four years ago. Best place I could find for him was a seven acre poor grazing field walking distance from my house. He’s got fat every summer but thankfully during winter he’s dropped off enough to cope with the grass. Each year I stress about him getting lami. But this year the field owner has allowed me to make him a paddock! It’s brilliant. He’s so happy on his own. His buddies are just the either side of electric fence and he’s got them on three sides.
He’s got a net of barley straw permanently and he gets a small amount of hay twice a day. Such a relief!
