morning..

Just wanted to share / gloat about my lesson yesterday - all fairly self indulgent but hey!!!

The mare has been out of full work for a while, what with one thing and another, and I've not schooled her properly or jumped her since she put me in hospital with her almighty bucks!!!

Anyway - feeling brave and entered a comp next w/end so wanted some jumping training to get my confidence back up to speed...

Firstly lunged her in the pessoa for about 15 mins to get the fizz out of her and get her loosened up, then i got on and warmed up on my own

in the school before trainer arrives... do all sorts of transitions and leg yeilds and she's really listening to me, and don't feel her thinking of bucking - all good so far. however, she's started to bunny hop from walk to trot, and trainer thinks as she's been lengthing her stride, her poor hind quarters are still bit weak, so anyway - somehting to work on...

trainer then arrives, and we decide to start off trotting through grids etc.. basically, the lesson focused on rhythym in both trot and canter, and we only jumped if we had either balanced and forward... she even made me canter with only one hand holding the reins

apparently helps keep the poll up and it did - guess she knows what she's talking about!!!

anyway - at hte end of hte lesson - and only one hissy fit and small buck, I felt loads better, more confident and learned how to outwit some of her marish things she throws at me....

really hope she does well nxt w/end at hte show - i've got about 8 people who decided they want to watch, so 'no pressure'!!!!

no apologies for self indulgence - I'm just so pleased with the little girl.... bless.

Nawww hunny I am pleased it all went well for you guys. You were getting on so well and unfortunately youve had a couple of set backs.
Onwards and upwards hunny, just remember there is no presssure what you guys are doing atm is learning from each other and trying to gel! go with the *everything good is a bonus* attitude! it works.
I dont put any pressure on myself when riding a young or inexperienced horse - its only winston who i put pressure on cos hes been there and dont it.

I look forward to hearing how next weekend goes, but just take it easy hunny

Cheers BB's

I just have to tell myself to breath - i'm terrible at forgetting that bit LOL!!!

I'm only going with the intention of getting in the ring and hopefully around the course, but I'm not going to do it if i don't want to. the mare is tricky and having been used to Ludo who didn't really have a mind of his own
