Some friends of mine own a well known tb yearling sales producing yard. They have a couple of shares in some racehorses too and Thomas is one of them. A couple of years ago Thomas (Portland Bill) came to us as a 4 year old to gain some mileage doing hunter trials, sj etc before going into training. He was a massive big solid boy with sooo much power and a rather naughty streak

My sister and I did some bits and pieces with him and then he went into training, having a few sucessful runs over hurdles. He's since has a few setbacks with injury and not long ago he ran through a wire fence, cutting his hindles very badly and he nearly didnt make it.
Yesterday was his 2nd race back and his 2nd race over proper fences. He only went and won it

Here he is with me-

That's good to hear. Did you have any money on him?

There's a chance he may come back to event if he retires sound......
He's the type that could do any job

My infatuation with Zaffarans started when I once went to Vere Phillips to look for a horse- he had 3 by Z for sale- all very nice and superb jumpers and all way out of my price range! (£15k 5 year olds!) One of them was only about 15.2 and had won the Irish 5 year old SJ championships or something very big!

Fingers crossed he comes back to yours for eventing at some stage

I remember Thomas!! Tam had me hack out on him once when he was with us, I was terrified as I was only a scrawny pathetic child and he was the youngest horse I'd ridden and the most TB! He was cool though!
It's so nice to hear good news about the ones we thought we'd forgotten! I'm glad he's finally doing well!
