So only dressage today, but early time and I was on my own. Left the yard about 6 and had an uneventful (?) trip thanks to new sat nav. We arrived in plenty of time, so booked in got the boy ready then myself, and got mounted. We warmed uo fine but he was quite spooky, so went in slightly ahead of time and then the problems started.
Firstly the nice lady operating the rope was clearly actually holding a cattle prod so we leap past her, but more or less down the centre line, then there was a patch of different coloured turf on the centre line that I wasn't sure if he was going to refuse or jump! In the end he just curled back but managed to keep him coming. Then we tracked left and 10m circles at S and P. with a transition to walk over A. Unfortunately MG decided to try to jump away from the cattle prod bearing woman so two things happened, 1 I forgot to walk and 2 my hat flew off!!!! Judge beeped so was able to retrieve the hat. Nothing else interesting happened, except had to do the second medium with my hand on my head !, until the end where lady opened the rope and MG spun around as I think he thought it was a stick!!! So he was a bit confused when plaits and studs came out, but hopefully will twig that the fun starts tomorrow.

Poor MG - imagine how scary that woman was.

You may have got extra 'amusement' marks for losing hat. I was dressage scribing once and riders topper blew off (horse shied at it v suspiciously for the rest of test). Judge and I in such fits of laughter we could hardly judge/write.

Good luck for tomorow.

Poor MG. cattle prod, funny coloured bits of turf and flying hats - what a day - and then no jumping! No fun at all. I expect you've explained that tomorrow will be much better. If not, I suggest you pop down to the yard and have a word as he won't get a wink of sleep otherwise.
Good luck with the jumping bits :-)

Thanks all, Rosiefan, I have explained that the fun is coming so hopefully he'l forgive me today's torture, Fi I like to think we brought a smile to their faces, and Archoak hope you had a good round
