My horse (gelding) has been diagnosed with cirrus cord and will probably have to have the offending sperm cord removed.

Has anyone else come across this condition and if so, what was the post sugery recovery plan like.

recovery is like gelding and varies depending on infection ect but be careful as this wont be covered on your insurance read small print its a complication of gelding my friend had hers done for this and despite ringing and telling ins and them saying get vet and giving go ahead they later refused to pay it cost her £1500 in the end hers got several infections.good luck with yours

It's Schirrous Cord - and as calon said, it is a complication of gelding so may not be covered in your insurance.

I haven't had any experience of it (thankfully) but would expect it to be several weeks of 'recovery' before able to be worked - and considerable attention to hygiene and drainage. Your vet is the best person to advise.
