Originally in Soapbox, but though some of you might be able to shed some light on this?

Can anyone tell me if this is worth the trip from NI? I go to Game Fairs every year over here, but they're small fry compared to what you all get! Also, if it is good can anyone recommend hotels/B&Bas etc near to where it's held? I've found flights for £35 return which is pocket change really!

Thankies!

Its at Harewood House this year which is such a beautiful venue, alot more together than the Hampshire one, which is usually over a mile to walk around. I always go, I work there as we have a whiskey stand, so if you are there be sue to pop in. It depends how big you are into thr game scene, I love it, I took my lab last year to the working dogs and did the courses, ad I am there all week. I always enjoy it, for me it would be worth the distance.

I love game fairs, although I wouldn't bring the lab over unfortunately :( although I take her to ones here. Not to compete her, just as she loves them!

I was planning on early flight the Friday (it arrives 7:55am), then probably going the Sat & Sun, or should I go all 3 days? Getting a flight home Monday. Need to find somewhere to stay. Thought about the campsite but my OH has diabetes & don't like the thought of syringes/insulin etc being in a tent...too warm etc.

Should I take plenty of money for trade stands? Do they have good stands of horse stuff etc as well?

I am just starting to learn clay shooting and hope to start shooting possibly next year?

Whiskey stand!? Sounds good! Lol

(sorry so many questions )

I wouldnt go all three days, I dont think you can find enough to do for thee days unless you are competing there, or like me you sleep all day sunday because you are nakered from trade parties all week ;)
There is a horse village- full of horsey stands, demos with horses, also loads of stands for dogs, fishing, shooting, hunting, beer tents, live entertainment all day, dog demos and food&drink galore. I love going, its such a good atmosphere, being a tradestander I have a lot of friends there now but its such a buzzing event- really is world class, and its soo much better when its up north ;)
Yes, Whiskey, you are welcome yo come and visit us if you come, have a tipple :)
Not sure about places to stay- I do camp out in our trailer, but like you say not good for diabetic- my wine got very hot last year, had to sit with it in the river until it had cooled  I would take afair bit of money, there is seriously sooo much to do and buy when you are there, its unreal!

Oooh and I shall tell you what else I loved last year- the 4x4 tracks. Toyota and Landrover usually have one, last year the Toyota had a big grass track with loads of obsticles in and the Landrover had the new discos going over huge seesaws and whatnot- I think you can sit in on them whilst the team drives you around!
